One way to run away from winter gloom is to experience an evening in December driving through the neighborhoods and look at the holiday lights. One time we decided to feel that wonder in a whole new way. On a cold evening in December, we traveled to Portland to view the Zoolights. With over 1.5 million lights, the grounds were glowing with the shapes of animals, trains, and carousels. We could see our breath in the air as we sipped on a cup of hot chocolate and joyfully wandered through the brilliant colors covering the landscape.
